SymbolicEnclosure names the closure of a territory through names, categories and images before a material barrier is constructed. Representation establishes who belongs, what the place is for and which histories count as legitimate. Once repeated through maps, media, policy and everyday speech, the symbolic boundary can direct investment, policing, access and memory as effectively as a wall. The operator identifies the moment when language ceases merely to describe territory and begins producing the conditions under which later physical enclosure appears reasonable or inevitable.
