MaintenanceReturn names the recurrent act of coming back through which an object, institution, archive or ecological condition remains operative. Nothing continues simply because it was once completed. Stability is produced through inspection, cleaning, migration, watering, calibration, replacement and interpretation. The interval between returns determines whether care remains preventive, becomes reparative or arrives too late. The operator reveals permanence as a schedule of labour and asks who receives another visit, another budget and another opportunity to continue.
