InterpretationTerritory names the delimited field within which certain meanings become possible, plausible or actionable while others remain illegible. Interpretation never operates across an unlimited space. It depends on linguistic habits, institutional histories, material settings, disciplinary conventions and prior distinctions. These conditions form a territory that guides reading before any individual conclusion is reached. The operator makes this enclosure visible without assuming that every boundary is illegitimate. Its question is whether the territory clarifies the object or protects one interpretive regime from evidence arriving beyond its established borders.
