AssumptionPresence names the tacit premise already organising perception before observation formally begins. Categories, instruments, methods and inherited questions introduce relations into the object that may later appear to have been discovered there. The operator does not claim that assumption can be eliminated. It asks whether the starting premise remains visible enough to be revised when the encountered reality resists it. Knowledge becomes accountable when it can distinguish what was observed from what had already been placed in the conditions of observation.
