It belongs to the lineage of Raymond Williams’s Keywords, New Keywords, critical theory glossaries, media-studies vocabularies and posthuman almanacs, but it moves the form into Socioplastics. Here, the word is not only a term to be defined; it is a field device. Each entry links one concept, one author, one bibliographic anchor and one socioplastic reframing. The book does not claim ownership over inherited concepts such as abjection, aura, habitus, hegemony, duration or language-game. Instead, it reads them as operative entrances into archives, infrastructures, bodies, institutions, memory, circulation and field formation. THE WORD is therefore a lexical bibliography: not a dictionary, not a glossary, not a canon for display, but a navigational instrument. After BOOK 035, which gathers citations, and BOOK 036, which gathers filmed bodies, BOOK 037 gathers the words through which the field becomes readable. Citation, body, word: three adjacent forms of knowledge. The word gives orientation. It allows the archive to become searchable, teachable, citable and traversable. It turns bibliography into language and language into infrastructure.
